First, check the statement without the speaker's name

The cards are J♥ Q♥ K♥, all used naturally. They are consecutive ranks in one suit, so they form a pure sequence under the conditions explained in A23's Rummy guide.

The mistaken belief was that picture cards belong only in equal-rank sets. But being a picture card does not remove a rank's place in a sequence. Here, jack, queen and king follow one another.

Now put the speaker back into the scene

A useful reply can stay small: “The three are consecutive hearts. I see why that works.” The learner does not need to flatter the opponent or settle every feeling before acknowledging the point.
