OK Rummy: Ask Saraswati Maa for the Reason, Not Only the Remembered Answer
A familiar set looks unfamiliar when the cards change places. Use a small comparison to bring the wish for real understanding to Saraswati Maa.
Look at these two displays in a rummy recognition exercise:
- Q♠, Q♥, Q♦
- Q♦, Q♠, Q♥
The learner remembers that the first display was marked “valid set”. Asked about the second, he hesitates: “I haven't learnt that one.”
OK Rummy readers may recognise the difference between remembering a picture and understanding the reason behind its answer. Saraswati Maa's blessing can be sought precisely at that difference.

What actually changed?
The cards have moved to different places in the row. There are still three queens, with spade, heart and diamond each appearing once. No rank or suit has changed, and no card has been added or removed.
For a natural set, the relevant conditions concern matching ranks and different suits. The left-to-right display order is not an additional condition. Taj Rummy's explanation of sets gives the rank-and-suit basis for the decision.
The learner's old answer was correct. What is missing is a reason that survives a change in presentation.

Let the answer show its work
Ask why the first display was valid. “Because the example said so” reports where the answer came from. It does not explain why it applies.
“All three ranks match and the suits are different” explains the group. The same sentence can then be checked against the second display. Nothing relevant has altered, so the judgement remains valid.
This is a different difficulty from forgetting a condition you previously explained correctly. Here the explanation itself has not yet been formed. The learner has a successful memory of the answer, but still needs understanding of its grounds.

The books before Maa hold that wish
At Saraswati Maa's offering area on Ishta Mel, books appear with white flowers, fruits, kheer and deepak. Take darshan and offer the displayed group with the question “Why does this answer hold?” in mind.
ॐ ऐं सरस्वत्यै नमः
Saraswati Maa, accept my offering. Bless me with understanding beneath the words I repeat. Let me recognise the conditions that make an answer true, and let that knowledge remain clear when its outward arrangement changes.
The wish does not ask the goddess to supply a new answer for every new picture. It asks for the insight with which the learner can recognise what has remained the same.

Try the explanation once more
Cover the first display and read only the second. Name the rank of each card. Name its suit. Then give the judgement and its reason together.
If you can do that without recalling where a tick appeared on the original page, something has changed in the way you know the answer. The cards remain the same; your explanation has become usable.
For an OK Rummy reader, this is a fitting offering of attention alongside the prayer: looking patiently until “I remember it was right” becomes “I understand why it is right.” Jai Maa Saraswati.
