Before giving a correct answer, you tapped the left edge of your cards twice. Everyone smiled when you explained the group. In the next exercise you repeat the tap, although one important condition has changed.

Keep the gesture fixed and examine the cards

In the first teaching exercise, all cards are used naturally:

6♣ 7♣ 8♣

The group is a sequence because the ranks are consecutive and the suit is the same. You tapped twice before saying so. The tap was present in the event, but it supplies neither of those card conditions.

The second exercise changes one card:

6♣ 7♦ 8♣

You make the same two taps. The ranks remain consecutive; the suits do not match. Under the same natural-sequence condition, the answer must change.

The same-suit requirement is explained in A23's sets and sequences guide. It gives a reason that can be checked in both examples. The personal gesture gives a memory of the first example, but does not repair the second.

You do not need to be ashamed of the gesture or replace it with a supposedly better one. The useful correction is to stop assigning it the work done by the actual conditions.

When the second group returns, the clear answer is: “The middle card is a diamond, so the suit condition is not met.” You have found a reason that belongs to this example.

A method earns its place by addressing the relevant conditions. A remembered gesture may accompany you, but it cannot be given that role simply because a good result once followed it. The prayer to Shiva asks for the discernment to see the connection as it is.
