EK7: Does Asking Bappa to Remove Obstacles Mean Asking for an Easy Game?

A missing piece and a difficult puzzle ask different things of a player. Bring both the wish for a clear beginning and the need for wisdom to Ganesha.

“I offered to Bappa. Why does this still need so much thought?” The question can arise even during an ordinary game. An EK7 reader may sincerely ask Ganesha to clear the way, then feel confused when the activity still contains a challenge.

Two moments with the same number puzzle help separate what is missing from what needs understanding.

Before the puzzle can begin

The task uses nine counters numbered 1 to 9, each once, on a three-by-three grid. Every row, column and diagonal must total 15.

If the counter marked 7 is missing, the intended task cannot be completed with the supplied material. Finding that counter restores a necessary starting condition. Asking Bappa to open the way has a very concrete place in that moment.

When everything needed is present

Now all nine counters are on the table. The puzzle still needs solving. One arrangement is:

Top row: 8, 1, 6.
Middle row: 3, 5, 7.
Bottom row: 4, 9, 2.

Each row, column and diagonal totals 15. Reaching and checking such an arrangement is the activity itself. The difficulty did not arise from another missing counter.

Ask Bappa for wisdom as well as a clear path

Ganesha is honoured for wisdom and the removal of obstacles. In this example, a prayer need not demand that every decision disappear. It can ask for the blessing needed to understand the task now available.

At Ganesha's offering area on Ishta Mel, take darshan and offer the displayed modak, durva, red flower, coconut and deepak together.

Ganpati Bappa, please accept this offering. Clear what prevents a proper beginning, and bless me with understanding when the work is before me. Help me recognise what is absent and what I have yet to learn.

The player who has all nine counters can still say, “Bappa, guide me.” The request remains devotional and specific. For EK7 readers, distinguishing an obstructed beginning from a demanding task makes the prayer more exact; it does not make the desire for Ganesha's grace any smaller.
