The fruit follows the matching pair. Asking Saraswati only for sudden money, or Lakshmi only for bookish cleverness, mixes the wires.
Mel means your need on one side, the deity who governs that domain on the other. Wealth, opening, victory, calm, courage, and judgment each have a seat.
Kathas tell of devotees who prayed hard to the wrong seat and stayed empty, until an elder named the right ishta. Volume is not the same as match.

मेल — एक ओर जरूरत, दूसरी ओर उस क्षेत्र के स्वामी। धन, द्वार, विजय, शांति, साहस और विवेक — सबके आसन अलग।
कथाएँ उन भक्तों की हैं जो गलत आसन पर खूब प्रार्थना कर खाली रहे, जब तक बुज़ुर्ग ने सही इष्ट न बताया। ज़ोर और मेल एक नहीं।
